CHRONOLOGY
28 B-24’s took off at 0726 hours to bomb CUPRIJA R/R Bridge. No early returns but one prior return which jettisoned 2.5 tons. 27 over target at 1021 hours with 26 dropping on target 65 tons of 1,000 lb GP bombs fused with .1 nose and non-delay tail from 18,000 to 19,200 feet. 1 returned 2.5 tons to base. 28 returned to base at 1214 hours. None lost, none missing, none at friendly fields. There were 26 effective sorties.

ROUTE AND ASSAULT
Rendezvoused at SAN VITO on course at 8,000 feet at 0836 hours, 30 minutes after the other groups. Proceeded to turnpoing at RAGUSA, to UZICE (4353N – 1951E) to I.P. to target, attacking on a heading of 73 degrees true. Bombing was done visually and by individual boxes. Rallied left to LAPOVO (4411N – 2105E) to UZICE (4353N – 1951E) to RAGUSA to base. Scattered high clouds reported above the flight altitude on entire trip, with 6/10 low clouds along coast of Yugoslavia. No clouds below bombing altitude over target. Rendezvous with escort of 18 P-38’s was made at 0937 hours at 4313N – 1912E at 16,000 feet. Escort provided penetration, target, and withdrawal cover, leaving formation at 4326N – 1842E at 1110 hours. No radio jamming was reported.

RESULTS
Good concentration of hits around bridge was reported with at least one direct hit on bridge. Good bombing pattern was reported on west bank of river. Bridge appeared to have sagging center span.

ENEMY RESISTANCE
Fighters: No E/A were sighted. Flak: No flak was reported on route or over the target.
